BIBLICAL TRUTH ON SABBATH LAW

FOREWORD

It has been with confidence that many Christians assert their assurance of salvation even without a general knowledge of the Holy Scriptures. They rely on the teachings and doctrines of their church unconfirmed by an earnest study of the Word of God. Hence, when confronted by arguments on Biblical Foundation a weak ability to defend ones faith was exposed and find oneself on the ground of uncertainty and confusion.

This life that is so precious is at stake, should they fall on the side of errors against truth. Consider the Pharisees during the time of our Lord Jesus, in their pride they choose not to be identified with Jesus while remaining in their traditional practices and teachings. Notwithstanding their condemnation and punishment aftermath of the controversy demanded by the justice of God.

It is on this similar picture of conflict that the present churches cannot in turn escape the impending great controversy on Sabbath and Sunday worship issue. Each Christian is compelled to make a decision and stand on which side he would position himself. Thus, it demands a wise decision, that it must be with the Word of God.

This website is as a light of truth on Biblical Foundation to give you an in-depth understanding on issues pertaining to Sabbath law, which I believe is a must to acquire in preparation to the coming great controversy and tribulation. Reading this would bring you to the realities of the past controversy of early Christians on law and salvation. And be in common perspective with the elders of Jerusalem in assessing the condition of the Gentile believers. Wherein the authority to pronounce judgement is vested even in matters affecting their salvation.

Furthermore, this would enlighten you to untold truth behind Sunday worship and its implications to the faith of Christians on coming judgement. Even to the realities of ongoing world-wide deception by the anti-Christ movement.

This I place before you as light portals on the path of salvation which in my prayers be to you as guiding light in the righteousness of the Word of God.

I. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SABBATH

1. SABBATH IS A PERMANENT SIGN BETWEEN GOD AND HIS PEOPLE.
Ezek. 20:19 I am the LORD your God; follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. 20 Keep my Sabbath holy that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.
Exo. 31:16 The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. 17 It will be a sign between me and Israelites forever, for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested.

It is true that the command to rest on Sabbath is part of the Ten Commandments but God made a distinct agreement to it as a lasting covenant, a sign forever between God and his people. Should others say the Ten Commandments is done away still the covenant on Sabbath will continue as Israelites continue to exist.

As Christians we are brothers and sisters of our Lord Jesus. This makes us a native Israelites according to the promise.

Matt. 12:50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
Rom. 4:16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it maybe by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring, not only to those who are of the Law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham.
Rom. 9:6 It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 7 Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. 8 In other words it is not the natural children who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.

We are Jesus offspring according to the prophecy.

Is. 53:10 Yet it was the LORD’S will to crush him and cause him to suffer and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prospers in his hand.

We are called people of Israel in whom God makes his new covenant.

Heb. 8:10 Now, this covenant that I will make with the people of Israel in the days to come, says the LORD: I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God and they will be my people.
Rom. 9:25 The people who are not mine I will call “My People”. The nation that I did not love I will call “My Beloved.”

We are offspring of Jacob, whom God pour out his Spirit; hence we are Israelites.

Is. 44:1 But now listen, O Jacob, my servant, Israel whom I have chosen... 3... I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring and my blessing on your descendants.

In the book of the Law of Moses, aliens in Israel are treated as native-born.

Lev. 19:34 The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your GOD.

And we are the real Jews according to Paul.

Rom. 2:28 A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit not of the written code. Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.

In Revelation, the redeemed people are Israelites.

Rev. 14:3 No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.
Rev. 7:3 Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God. 4 Then I heard the number of those who are sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

2. SABBATH IS A SIGN THAT GOD MAKES US HOLY.

Ezek. 20:11 I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws for the man who obeys them will live by them. 12 Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the LORD made them holy.
Exo. 31:13 Say to the Israelites, “you must observe my Sabbath. This will be sign between me and you for the generations to come as you may know that I am the LORD , who makes you holy.

Not only it is a sign that He makes us holy, it is also a means for us to have a place in his holy mountain.

3. SABBATH OBSERVANCE A CONDITION TO BE ACCEPTED TO THE HOLY MOUNTAIN.

Is. 56:6 And foreigners who bind themselves to the LORD to serve him, to love the name of the LORD, and to worship him, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant. 7 These I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer.

This holy mountain is a place for his chosen people on the restoration being described as New Heaven and a New Earth in Isaiah 65:17-25.

Is. 65:22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree so will be the days of my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. 23 They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune for they will be a people blessed by the LORD. They and their descendants with them. 24 Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together and the lion will eat straw like ox, but dust will be the serpent’s food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain says the LORD.

4. SABBATH DAY AS GOD’S APPOINTED DAY OF SACRED ASSEMBLY AND WORSHIP.

Lev. 23:3 There are six days when you may work but the seventh day is Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred assembly.

Note: Sunday is the first day and Saturday is the seventh day.

5. SABBATH DAY IS A HOLY DAY, UNLIKE ANY OTHER DAY IN A WEEK AND TO OBSERVE IT IS TO DECLARE OUR GOD AS CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH.

Exo. 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work. 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God, on it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals nor the alien within your gates “For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

6. ON SABBATH DAY OUR LORD JESUS AND APOSTLE PAUL HAVE A CUSTOM OF GOING TO THE SYNAGOGUE OR WORSHIP PLACE.

Lk. 4:16 He went to Nazareth where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue as was his custom.
Acts 17:2 As his custom was Paul went into the synagogue and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from scriptures. (Acts 13:14, 42, 44)

As Christians we must do the same.

I. JESUS AND SABBATH OBSERVANCE

1. LORD OF THE SABBATH
Matt 12: 1-8 (Mk. 2:23-28, Lk. 6:1-5)

Matt. 12:1 At that time Jesus went through the grainfield on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and begin to pick some heads of grain and eat them. 2 When the Pharisees saw this they said to him. “Look! your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”

The disciples are not attacked by picking the ears as they walked. (This was allowed. Deu. 23:25)
Deu. 23:25 If you enter your neighbor’s grainfield, you may pick kernels with your hands, but you must not put a sickle to his standing grain.

It is on their man-made teachings which are not in the Old Testament ordinances that the disciples were accused of breaking. Teachings and disciplines being impose by Pharisees respecting Sabbath regulations. This man-made regulations have no credit on God’s sight.

Matt. 15:8 These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. 9 They worship me in vain, their teachings are but rules by men.

Matt. 12:3 He answered, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry. 4 He entered the house of God and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread - which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests.

Jesus is making clear that eating is not an act of breaking the Sabbath especially when the person is hungry. That even the consecrated bread can be shared by the Priest to a hungry person to practice the law of loving thy neighbor as thyself.

Matt.12:5 Or haven’t you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the Priests in the temple desecrate the day and yet innocent?

Because the work of the Priest is an ordinance set by God in the book of Leviticus for the good of man. Whenever the people bring an offering they are to minister and perform their obligation as their duty to God; hence they are held innocent.

Matt. 12:6 I tell you that one greater than the temple is here. 7 If you had known what these words mean. “I desire mercy; not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent. 8 For the Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath.

Jesus quoted Hosea 6:6 for them to atleast understand who he was.
Hos. 6:6 For I desire mercy, not sacrifice and acknowledgement of God.

He is God that is why he concluded the son of man is Lord of the Sabbath.

II. HEALING AT THE POOL

John 5:5 One who was there had been invalid for thirty eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time; he asked him. “Do you want to get well?” “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in someone else goes down ahead of me. 8 Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” 9 At once the man was cured: he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath. 10 And so the Jews said to the man who had been healed, it is the Sabbath, the law forbids you to carry your mat.

It is true that carrying a load on Sabbath is unlawful, however the context that it is unlawful in scripture is because of intention to work, do business and to travel great distance. Anything that will lead your heart not to regard the Sabbath as holy day.
Neh. 13:15 In those days I saw men in Judah treading winepresses on the Sabbath and bringing grain and loading it on donkeys together with wine, grapes, figs and all other kinds of loads. And they were bringing all this into Jerusalem on the Sabbath. Therefore I warned them against selling food on that day.
Jer. 17:22 Do not bring a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath but keep the Sabbath day holy as I commanded your forefathers.

The intention of Jesus is to heal for the glory of God and for the good of man and not to desecrate the Sabbath. The carrying of mat is requirement for healing to enable him to act in faith and not connected to do some work or business activities. The judgement of the Pharisees is purely legalistic without discernment of true righteousness. In truth their behavior is more an act of contempt, a ruse to mislead the people not to embrace the deliverance of God.

John 5:16 So because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jews persecuted him. 17 Jesus said to them “My Father is always at his work to this very day and I, too, am working.

Jesus is doing his mission of healing and teaching, this work is God’s work of redemption to free man from sickness and sin. This is part of his priestly obligation which should not be regarded as an ordinary work of man. Should the Priests and Levites perform their work in the Temple on Sabbath and yet innocent, how much more to Jesus being the Son of God.

Furthermore, there is no commandment on the Old Testament not to heal during Sabbath. Therefore, Jesus is not breaking the law.

John 7:21 Jesus said to them, “ I did one miracle and you are all astonished. 22 Yet because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarch ), you circumcise a child on the Sabbath. 23 Now if a child can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing the whole man on Sabbath? 24 Stop, judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgement.

MORE VERSES RELATED TO SABBATH

Matt. 5:17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 I tell you the truth until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of pen, will by any means disappear from the law until everything is accomplished. 19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

From these words the judgement to those who prefer Sunday than Saturday worship are to be called least in the kingdom of heaven.

Matt. 15:8 These people honor me with their lips; but their hearts are far from me. 9 They worship me in vain, their teachings are but rules taught by man.

Sunday worship is a teaching taught by man.

John 7:16 Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me.17 If anyone choose to do God’s will he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. 18 He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth there is nothing false about him. 19 Has not Moses given you the law. Yet not one of you keeps the Law.

Jesus accuse them for not keeping the Law. This should be a warning to those who does not keep the Sabbath rest.

Lk. 4:16 He went to Nazareth where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue as was his custom.

III. JAMES AND SABBATH OBSERVANCE

The letter of James is the first letter written after the spread of the Gospel in the New Testament. The scholars assumed that this letter was written sometime 45 to 49 A.D. probably three to seven years prior to any written letter of Paul. It is therefore a common mistake to some Pastors and teachers to digest this letter using the letters of Paul as background for interpretation. Should we seek to understand its real message the discipline of the Gospel and teachings of the Old Testament must be our guiding reference since these are the very scriptures during this time.

James 2:8 If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture “love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the Law as law breakers. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

James is referring to the Gospel and ofcourse the law of Moses especially the Ten Commandments. If we neglect to observe the Sabbath rest we are guilty of breaking the whole Ten Commandments. If this will be the case, how can we expect salvation. Remember that Jesus said we must be more righteous than the Pharisees.

Matt. 5:20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

James 2:11 For he who said “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder you have become a law breaker.

Notice that these two commands are from the Ten Commandments. Sabbath was not mentioned because they are observing the Sabbath rest and there is no historical record that Sunday worship already existed as Christian practice during this time. Now with the same principle applied, “If you do not commit murder, but do break the Sabbath rest you have become a law breaker.”

James 2:12 “Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom;”

If we break the Sabbath rest the very law that should give us freedom will turned to be for our condemnation to judge us as a law breaker. Under the law he who breaks the Sabbath is punishable by death.

Exo. 31:14 Observe the Sabbath because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrate it must be put to death; whoever does any work on that day must be cut off from his people.

James 2:22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.
James 2:26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Faith accompanied by obedience to the law is the living faith, worthy to be trusted with assurance of salvation.

James 2:24 You see that a person justified by what he does and not by faith alone.

Justification is true to Sabbath keepers, but how is justification to Sabbath breakers.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Let us be wise to know who are devils that lead us to break the law.

James 4:11 Brothers, do not slander one another.

Is not promoting Sunday worship instead of obeying the Sabbath rest is an act that would cause slander to one another.

IV . THE COUNCIL OF JERUSALEM
48-49 A.D. ACTS 15:1-29

Acts 15:1 Some man came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.”

This issue of circumcision resulted to a sharp dispute and debate that Paul and Barnabas was forced to go to Jerusalem to settle the matter which finally decided to accept the Gentiles in the church without enforcing circumcision. But this was after Peter made his address that everybody have agreed to adopt.

Acts 15:7 “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe, 8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear? 11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

The condition of the Gentiles that was accepted as Israelites is not through circumcision, though this was the law.

Gen.17:10 This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep. Every male among you shall be circumcised. 11 You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you. 12 For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner - those who are not your offspring. 13 Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant. 14 Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.

The Gentiles were accepted as Israelites in the church assembly because of God’s grace in giving them his Holy Spirit. As prophesied in Isaiah to be a descendants of Jacob.

Is. 44:1 “But now listen, O Jacob, my servant Israel whom I have chosen... 3...I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.

We are descendants of Jacob through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Is. 53:10 Yet it was the LORD’S will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days,

Jesus is speaking as to be our Father in Revelation. (Rev. 21:6-7, 22:13,16)
Rev. 21:7 He who overcomes will inherit this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
Joel 2:28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 29 Even on my servants both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

Joel 2:32 And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance as the LORD has said among the survivors, whom the LORD calls. (Jesus as LORD).
Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Because of these standing the Jerusalem council offered an open arm acceptance to the Gentiles with an impose discipline to them through letters.

Acts 15:27 Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.

Why did the Jerusalem Council warned them on these?

*Abstain from food sacrifices to idols.
Deu. 32:16 Their idolatry made the LORD jealous; the evil they did made him angry. 17 They sacrificed to gods that are not real, new gods their ancestors had never known. gods that Israel has never obeyed. 19 When the LORD saw this, he was angry and rejected his sons and daughters. 23 I will bring on them endless disasters and use all my arrows against them. 24 They will die from hunger and fever; they will die from terrible diseases...25 War will bring death in the streets; terrors will strike in the homes. Young men and women will die; neither babies nor old people will be spared. 26 I would have destroyed them completely, so that no one would remember them.

The Christian Jews does not want their new brothers in Christ to invite God’s anger because of ignorance to this law.

* Abstain from blood and meat of strangled animals.
Lev. 7:26 No matter where the Israelites live, they must never use the blood of birds or animals for food. 27 Anyone who breaks this law will no longer be considered one of God’s people.
Lev. 17:14 The life of every living thing is in the blood and that is why the LORD has told the people of Israel that they shall not eat any meat with blood still in it and anyone who does so will no longer be considered one of his people.

* Abstain from Sexual Immorality
Matt. 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gauge it out and threw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

These warnings was given for them to escape the punishment of God and be assured of their continues salvation in God’s grace; otherwise it might lost because of their sins.

Is. 26:10 Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the LORD. 11 O LORD, your hand is lifted high, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people and be put to shame; let the fire reserved for your enemies consumes them.

Again Sabbath rest was not mentioned in this council meeting because even the Gentiles adhere to the Sabbath rest of the Jews. It is but natural for them to follow and regard the discipline of the Ten Commandments being them the joining party. Considering also that the first Christians who manage the affairs of the church were all Jews. It is only during the time of Cornelius Gentiles were accepted as Israelites between year 39-43 AD. And this event created some dispute to the church that Peter made this pronouncement.

Acts 11:17 So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could opposed God?

If circumcision becomes a controversial issue whether to be tolerated or not, how much more is the breaking of Sabbath rest which is punishable by death. Surely they will also send circular letters to warn them not to break the Sabbath rest as they did on adultery.

Furthermore, it is understood to them that foreigners or Gentiles are to be accepted as part of God’s people should they observe the Sabbath law. (Read Isaiah 56:1-8).

Is. 56:6 And foreigners who bind themselves to the LORD to serve him, to love the name of the LORD, and to worship him, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant - 7 these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer.

Therefore the prophecy to end up the Sabbath celebration in Hosea 2:11 is not applicable to the Gentiles who serves the LORD. It is only address to those who continue to disobey the Ten Commandments that they may suffer God’s anger.

V. PAUL AND SABBATH OBSERVANCE

In the letters of Paul the provision of God’s grace through faith in our Lord Jesus came to mean “Not under the law” in the expressions of most Chritians today. Notwithstanding that it has nothing to do with Sabbath law. Naturally in the situation of Paul as a missionary, he must adhere to the decision of the Elders in Jerusalem and his teachings must be consistent to it. The minimal discipline demanded by the Elders makes the Gentiles not to be burden in many restrictions of the law. (Acts 15:19). This should not be interpreted as a license to commit sin in disobeying even the Ten Commmandments. However, on the part of Paul it inhibits him to give further permission or restriction in more detail disciplines of the law except first approve by the Elders.

Thus in matters of food, Paul said, “all is clean” because only blood and those offered to idols are prohibited.(Rom. 14:20). In regard to special days, “each must decide and be prepared to God’s judgement. (Rom 14:5,10). This he taught in his letters to remain consistent in the decision of the Jerusalem council. Hence, pertaining to Sabbath law he taught nothing to disobey it.

These teachings of Paul in his letters were purely his own wisdom to expound the graces of God. Unfortunately it was not foresighted before hand that these would greatly affect the understanding of the whole church respecting the true import of the law of Moses in regard to salvation and on the coming God’s judgement.

It becomes in conflict with the prophecy of Isaiah on the coming God’s judgement in matters of food. In which every Christian must be informed to escape this impending judgement of God.

Is. 66:15 For the Lord is coming with fire, and his war-carriages will be like the storm-wind; to give punishment in the heat of his wrath, and his passion is like flames of fire. 66:16 For with fire and sword will the Lord come, judging all the earth, and his sword will be on all flesh: and great numbers will be put to death by him. 66:17 As for those who keep themselves separate, and make themselves clean in the gardens, going after one in the middle, taking pig’s flesh for food, and other disgusting things, such as the mouse: their works and their thoughts will come to an end together, says the Lord. (Basic English Version)

Also it resulted to many Christians today a misunderstanding on the true weekly day of Worship of the model church of the apostles in Jerusalem presuming it on Sunday instead of Saturday. Hence only few churches today can be truly said in Biblical Foundation in matters of sacred day of assembly which is Sabbath day. The Elders in Jerusalem testify this to Paul in Acts after his missions.

Acts 21:20 “You see brothers, how many thousand Jews have believed and all are jealous for the Law.

Furthermore, the Elders advice Paul to perform the ritual of purification to testify that he is living in obedience to the law.

Acts 21:24 Take these men join in their purification rites and pay their expenses so that they can have their heads shaved. Then everybody will know there is no truth in these reports about you, but that you are living in obedience to the Law.

Paul remain loyal to the Ten Commandments.

I THESSALONIANS

This first letter of Paul was written soon after his mission in Thessalonians sometime 52 AD. It was here Paul made his custom to go to synagogue every Sabbath to proclaim that Jesus is the Christ.

Acts 17:2 As his custom was, Paul went into the synagogue and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the scriptures.

* * * * *
1 Thess. 2:14 For you brothers became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus.

The churches in Judea are majority Jews and naturally observed the Sabbath rest; hence the Thessalonians though mostly Gentiles also regard the Sabbath rest.

1 Thess. 1:7 And so you became a model to all believers in Macedonia and Achaia.
Therefore these churches also worship during Sabbath day.

1 Thess. 4:7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.

In the Law to be holy is to observe the Sabbath rest.
Lev. 19:2 Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because, the LORD your God, am holy. 3 Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.

1 Thess. 5:5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

In Isaiah to be sons of light there is a condition that Sabbath must be honored. (Read Isaiah 58:8-13)
Is. 58:8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard... 10 ...and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness and you will become like the noonday. 13 If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD’S holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, 14 then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of Jacob.” The mouth of the LORD has spoken.

1 Thess. 5:20 do not treat prophecies with contempt.

Matt. 5:18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

2 THESSALONIANS

2 Thess. 2:3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped , so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

In church history the Pope declares themselves as God on earth.
Leo XIII (1902) said:
The supreme teacher in the church is the Roman Pontiff. Union of minds, therefore, requires with a perfect accord in the one faith, complete submission and obedience of will to the Church and to the Roman Pontiff, as to God Himself.

Pope Pius X stated:
The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but He is Jesus Christ Himself hidden under the veil of flesh. Does the Pope speak? It is Jesus Christ who speaks.

Pope Pius XI once declared:
You know that I am the Holy Father, the representative of God on earth, the Vicar of Christ, which means that I am God on earth.

Man of lawlessness because instead obeying the Sabbath rest they prefer Sunday rest.

Pope John Paul II on his Apostolic Letter Dies Domini writes:
In the first place, therefore, Sunday is the day of rest because it is the day “blessed” by God and “made holy” by him, set apart from the other days to be, among all of them, “the Lord’s Day”.
We move from the “Sabbath” to the “first day after the Sabbath”, from the seventh day to the first day: the dies Domini becomes the dies Christi!
“Christians will naturally strive to ensure that civil legislation respects their duty to keep Sunday holy.”

The Pope change the Ten Commandments by removing the second and dividing the last commandments into two to keep it ten in numbers. He put away the laws against idolatry and change the meaning of the Sabbath law. Making it to be Sunday which is the first day of the week instead of Sabbath which is the seventh day as in our Bible. He then filled the church with many idols which are an abomination to the Lord.

Exo. 20:4 You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. ( Second of the Ten Commmandments)

This fulfills the prophecy on the book of Daniel.
Dan. 7:25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and a half a time. 26 But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever.
2 Thess. 2:11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
“The observance of Sunday by the Protestants is an homage they pay, inspite of themselves to the authority of the [Catholic] church.” Monsignor Louis Segur, Plain Talk About the protestantism of Today (1868).p. 213

Can you think of greater delusion that have mislead the protestant and even most born again churches today expecting salvation while breaking the Sabbath Law?

1 CORINTHIANS

Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half teaching them the word of God. Again as recorded in Acts Paul has a habit of sharing the word of God in the synagogue every Sabbath.
Acts 18:4 Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.

In few months after his mission in Corinth Paul write this letter. With this truth as background information, let us examine some of the message and context of the letter.

1 Cor. 1:12 What I mean is this: One of you says, I follow Paul, another, “I follow Apollos; another, “I follow Cephas, still another I follow Christ. 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?
1 Cor. 3:10 By the grace God has given I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 12 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid which is Jesus Christ.

Paul is encouraging them to follow Jesus, yet many Christians today follow Paul and not Jesus teachings. They say that Paul teaches them not to obey the Sabbath law which is not true.

1 Cor.7:19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts.
Therefore the Sabbath law must be obeyed.

1 Cor. 11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
Jesus and Paul goes to the synagogue every Sabbath.

1 Cor. 6:2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to made.
Since collection involves much traveling which is not allowed during Sabbath Paul advice this to be done on Sunday. Nothing is mentioned regarding Sunday worship here.

2 CORINTHIANS

2 Cor. 2:2 You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts known and read by everybody.
Paul is commending them because they are faithful, implied also is their adherence to Sabbath discipline.
2 Cor. 3:3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry written not with ink but with the Spirit of the Living God not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
In Ezekiel the sign that you are led by the Spirit of God is that you obey his commandments.
Ezek. 36:27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws.

It must be clear that Sabbath Law was not written with ink, it was written by the finger of God out of fire on Sabbath day.
Deu. 10:4 The LORD wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of fire on the day of assembly.
Exo. 31:18 When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony , the tablets of stones inscribed by the finger of God.

Before it was written on the stone, God directed Moses that it be obeyed by Israelites even before they went to Mount Sinai.
Exo. 16:23 He said to them, “This is what the LORD commanded: ‘Tomorrow is to be a day of rest, a holy Sabbath to the LORD. So bake what you have to bake and boil what you have to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.’ ”
Then it was place on the ark of the covenant and in the very center of the most Holy Place where the presence of God dwells to remind them of its holy nature and as an everlasting covenant of God with Israel.
Deu. 10:5 Then I came back down the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, as the LORD commanded me, and they are there now.
Exo. 32:16 The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.
And it was not ordinary stone tablets because it was a tablet made by God.

2 Cor. 3:6 He made us competent as ministers of a new covenant- not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills but the Spirit gives life.

Many refers this letter to the Ten Commandments; however in scripture the Ten Commandments written on stone was given to give life. And nothing in Ten Commandments that would cause men to die. Note what Moses said just after giving the Ten Commandments.

Deu. 5:33 Walk in all the way that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

2 Cor. 3:7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was , 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?

It is understood that Paul is mentioning the event in Exo. 34:29-35 relating to the Ten Commandments it seems unreasonable to assume that it is the cause of death. If we want to be exact on the causes of death it is no other than the judgement of God which is also written in the Law of Moses, and not the Ten Commandments itself.

Deu. 30:17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them 18 I declare to you this day you will certainly destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordean to enter and possess.

The usual reason that Israel suffer the punishment of God is because of their rejection to his prophets as in time of Jeremiah and Ezekiel. The worst is their rejection to Jesus as the Christ. In the law of Moses these rejection would result death.

Deu. 18:19 If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name. I myself will call him to account.
Lk. 19:27 But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them - bring them here and kill them in front of me.

Aside from these reasons is the very word of judgement from God in Genesis.
Gen. 3:19 ...for dust you are and to dust you will return.

But what exactly Paul mean that it brings death is that this Ten Commandments resulted death to many because of their disobedience; therefore it must be obeyed.

2 Cor. 3:8 Will not the Ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?
Is not the Ten Commandments is the word of God. And the word of God is the Spirit of God.
Jn. 6:63 The Spirit gives life ; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

2 Cor. 3:9 If the ministry that condemns men is glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!
Is there anything in Ten Commandments that condemns man?

2 Cor. 3:11 And if what was fading away came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!
We know Jesus and his disciples and even Paul continue to obey the Ten Commandments; “When did it fade in glory?”

2 Cor. 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, whom is the image of God.

This is the cause that brings death and not the Ten Commandments.

2 Cor. 6:3 We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path; so that our ministry will not be discredited.
Perhaps there is no need to degrade the Ten Commandments if not to put a stumbling block.

2 Cor. 13:1 Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Where is the other witness to testify that the Ten Commandments has fade its glory. Isn’t it is the brightness in the face of Moses that fades?

GALATIANS
55-57 A.D.

Gal. 1:11 I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. 12 I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.

The gospel we understand is the good news concerning Jesus Christ for our salvation, not anything to discredit the Ten Commandments. Surely Jesus our Lord will not speak against Ten Commandments which he himself demanded.

Jn. 7:19 Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law.

Gal. 2:16 ...by observing the law no one will be justified.
Even observing the law without Jesus as Savior there is no salvation.

Gal. 3:3 Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?
The issue here is not Sabbath law but on circumcision because after receiving Jesus as Lord many let themselves be circumcised. (Gal. 5:2, 6). As for Sabbath it was their regular weekly gathering which Paul never put to question.

Gal. 3: 25 Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.

True however it does not mean freedom to break the Law as in the law on idolatry and murder. And to have faith is being assured on the fulfillment of prophecy.
Is. 66:22-23 “As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the LORD, “ so will your name and descendants endure. 23 one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the LORD. 24 “And they will go out and look upon the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome.
Rev. 11:19 Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant.

Surely this testifies the Ten Commandments as an eternal covenant of God. It cannot be that the ark is there without the Covenant which is the Ten Commandments.

Gal. 4: 9 But now that you know God - or rather or known by God - how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principle? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? 10 You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! 11 I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you. 12 I plead with you brothers, become like me, for I become like you.

This verse is not referring to Sabbath day because Paul cannot accuse them of things he himself is also observing. Paul is addressing the people newly converted to Christian faith yet observing again their pagan festival practice, which he refers as “weak and miserable principles”. And demand them to follow his ways like observing the Sabbath and Jewish annual feasts. (Acts 20: 6,16)

Gal. 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Is not observing the Sabbath law more than man made regulations of Sunday worship is more an expression of loyalty and earnest love?

Gal. 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit you are not under the law.
Because the very presence of God’s Spirit enables us to obey the law, especially the Ten Commandments.
Ezek. 36:27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
Is. 8:20 To the Law and to the Testimony! If they do not speak according to this world, they have no light of dawn.

ROMANS
56-58 A.D.

Rom. 2:13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.
So it is those who observe the Sabbath law are to be declared righteous.

Rom. 2:26 If those who are not circumcised keep the law’s requirements will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised.
So the Gentiles were regarded as Jews in observing the Sabbath rest.

Rom 3:20 Therefore no one will be regarded righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather through the law we become conscious of sin.
Paul concerns are the Jews who are rejecting Jesus as Lord though obeying the law.

Rom. 3:28 For we maintain that a man is justified by Faith apart from observing the Law.
But if he commit murder or break the Sabbath is he still justified?
Justification demands faithfulness and obedience to the Word of God.

Rom 3:31 Do we then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather we uphold the Law.
So it is faith with obedience to the law.

Rom. 5:20 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more.
The law was given to give life and to minimize the sinful act.

Rom. 14:5 One man considers one day more sacred than another. Another man considers everyday alike. Each one should fully convinced on his own mind.
But it is God who considers Sabbath day as a holy day and the other six days are working days and not holy. You can worship in any day but not to desecrate the Sabbath day.

COLOSSIANS
61-63 A.D.

Col. 2:13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumsion of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having cancelled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us he took it away, nailing it to the cross.
Not all written code are cancelled like laws on adultery, murder and others. What are cancelled are laws against Gentiles in the Law of Moses referring to Passover regulations, circumcision, levitical priesthood and judicial rights.

Regulations on Passover:
Exo. 12:43 These are the regulations for the Passover: No foreigner is to eat of it. 47 The whole community of Israel must celebrate it.

Circumcision:
Gen. 17:14 Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.

The right to serve in the temple and in the courts is not allowed to the Gentiles.

Col. 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
The deceptive philosophy of regarding Sunday more sacred than Sabbath is actually a man-made teaching that has already become a false tradition practice of many churches today.

Col. 2:16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink or with regard to a religious festival, a new Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however is found in Christ.

Actually this verse proves that they are observing the Sabbath and some Jewish festivals. However it is more concerned on the person that judges than on their practices.

“Shadow of things to come”, may also mean “glimpse of things to come” so to speak on these last days treatment to the saints by some Christians who will misjudge them in their return to the true Sabbath discipline.

Col. 2:22 These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings.
Likewise is the teaching promoting Sunday observance is destined to perish.

Col. 3:25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.
Surely those who adhere to the false Sabbath instituted by the Pope instead of true Biblical Sabbath will be under punishment.

1 & 2 TIMOTHY
64-67 A.D.

1 Tim. 1:3 ...command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer 4 nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. 7 They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.
These advice must be done to teachers promoting Sunday rest.

1 Tim. 3:9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
But this very pamphlet proves they are wrong and they are not holding to the deep truths of the Bible message.

1 Tim. 4:16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
Timothy is a faithful followers and son of Paul in faith, hence he is also observing Sabbath regulations. But how about the salvation of those who adhere to the false Sabbath of the Pope.

2 Tim. 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
How can we be approved to God if we support the false Sabbath of the Pope who also introduces himself as God of this world.

2 Tim. 3:5 ...having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
This we have to do to those who will not accept the truth of Sabbath law.

2 Tim. 3:12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
It cannot be the Sabbath keepers that will persecute the Sunday keepers instead it is the multitudes against the few; the Pope against the true faithful Christians or the impostors against the followers of The Word of God. (Rev.19:13).

2 Tim. 3: 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
But many close their eyes to see that Sunday rest or Sunday holy assembly is unbiblical and it is the Sabbath rest that must be obeyed.

2 Tim. 4:18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Who will attack us except those who are against us; those who will stand with the false teachings of the Pope. But God is with us not with them that will persecute us.

VI. BOOK OF HEBREWS AND SABBATH
64-68 A.D.

Heb. 4:7 Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David as was said before: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”

Today is referred as an opportunity given by God to anyone who heard his message of salvation, this has nothing to do with Sunday. Since it is only on second century Sunday observance became a practice of those churches aligned with the authority of their main church council in Rome.

Heb. 4:9 There remains, then, a Sabbath rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following this example of obedience.

This given opportunity being called “Today” is describe as a Sabbath rest. Those who enters God’s rest, is no other than those who observed the Law of Sabbath; since it is only on Sabbath day that God rested. Here we are commanded to enter that rest, meaning we must be with God on his holy Sabbath.

Heb. 8:7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. But God found fault with the people and said: “ The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Judah.
If you examine carefully the explanation given in this book on the weaknesses of the first covenant, there is no indication touching the Ten Commandments, instead the issue is more on the priesthood, the tent meeting, the sin offering and sacrifices, and on the people.

a. Priesthood - Jesus as High Priest. Heb. 7:11-28
b. Earthly Tabernacle prefigured the Heavenly Tabernacle. Heb. 9:1-12
c. Jesus holy blood compared to Levitical sin offerings & sacrifices. Heb. 9:13-28
d. The unfaithful people. Heb. 8:8

Notice that it is on the people that God find a fault not on the words of the covenant. But many misinterpret this verse to refer it to the Ten Commandments as the reason for renewal of the covenant.

Heb. 8:9 It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them declares the Lord.

So it is because of their unfaithfulness to the covenant and God’s reaction of turning from them that it must be change.

Heb. 8:10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts, I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will a man teach, his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying know the Lord, because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and I will remember their sins no more.

The new covenant of God for his people is putting the laws in their hearts and minds. It is not altering the Ten Commandments and making it into two greatest commandments. If this very book of Hebrew encourage us to enter God’s rest or Sabbath on its early chapter , why presume that it is the Ten Commandments that has become obsolete.

JESUS DID NOT ALTER THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

Matt. 22:35 One of them an expert of the Law, tested him with this question: 36 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law. 37 Jesus replied : Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself.” 40 All the law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Jesus made a reply to the question, asking “which is the greatest commandment? And he quoted the verse in Deu. 6:5 and Lev. 19:18, which are not new commandments but an old commandment. Nothing in these conversation that proves Jesus altered the Ten Commandments.

Heb. 10:1 The Law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming - not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year , make perfect those who draw near to worship.

The law being referred here is on sin offering not the Ten Commandments.

Heb. 10:26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth , no sacrifice for sin is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgement and of raging fire that consume the enemies of God.

This is the destiny of those who neglect the Sabbath rest as foretold on the prophecy of Isaiah. The whole earth being guilty of breaking his everlasting covenant the very situation we have today.

Is. 24:5 The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws; violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their guilt. Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up and very few are left.

Heb. 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with all men and be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

How can we be holy if we neglect the Sabbath law?
Lev. 19:2 Be holy because I the Lord your God am holy. 3 Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the Lord your God.

Heb. 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,...

Be reminded that this book of Hebrews is addressing the Christians during their time who are not influence by the weekly Sunday present tradition; therefore they are observing the Sabbath law as required in prophecy to enter Mount Zion.
Is. 56:6 all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant - 7 these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer.

Heb. 10:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hence he is always against those who disobey the Ten Commandments.

Heb. 13:9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.
Surely weekly Sunday practice teaching is very foreign during this time since a lapse of more than fifty years after before the churches got acquainted to it.

VII. JOHN AND SABBATH OBSERVANCE

The first three letters of John including his book of Revelation was written sometime 85-90 A.D., probably forty to forty-five years after the writings of Paul. If there has been misunderstanding on the law resulting from varied interpretation of salvation by grace taught by Paul, the letter of John was also intended for clarification and as a corrective measures on this problem.

1 John 2:5 This is how we know we are in him..6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
Jesus goes regularly to synagogue every Sabbath, not Sunday. As Christian we must also go regularly to the Churches every Sabbath day.

1 John 2:18 Dear children this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrist have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

Is not those Sunday keepers that separated themselves to the gathering of Sabbath keepers in the second century establishing their own Easter date and worship day practice and promoting separation from the Jews.

1 John 2:29 If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.
How can those who follow the teachings of the Pope instead of Christ be called born of him?

1 John 3:4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.
Even so the Sunday worshippers breaks the Law of Sabbath promoting the act of sin by disregarding the Sabbath law.

1 John 3:6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
How can they claim they know him if they continue on sinning?

1 John 3:10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.
This would help us discern who are children of the devil or children of the false God (Pope).

1 John 3:21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.
Now after knowing this truth can you make a stand before God with a clear conscience? If you stand guilty can you expect salvation?

I John 4:6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us.

In the same way if they do not accept this truth they are not from God.

1 John 5:2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome.
2 John 6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands.

Thus the first greatest commandment according to Jesus, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” is to obey the whole Ten Commandments.

2 John 9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

It is the teaching of Jesus that “until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the law.” Matt. 5:19.

REVELATION
90-95 A.D.

Rev. 1:10 On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,

The phrases “Lord’s day” and “day of the Lord” refer specifically to the day of Jesus’ return at the final trumpet sound announcing His Second Coming. And nothing in the Bible that gives Sunday in connection with these phrases. Perhaps it has more connection to Sabbath if we speak of Jewish traditional understanding that Sabbath is the day of the Lord meaning man should regard this day solely for the Lord. As stated by Jesus being he is the Lord.

Mk. 2:28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.

The first early church father to use the term “Lord’s day” to mean Sunday was Clement of Alexandria, writing about A.D. 190. About A. D. 180 or 185 Bishop Irenaeus of Gaul spoke of Easter Sunday as the Lord’s Day. Also the apocryphal Gospel of Peter, written about the middle of the second century, speaks of Easter Sunday as the Lord’s day. (Gospel of Peter, 9, 12; ANF 10:8. See Strand (ed.), The Sabbath in Scripture and History, p. 347.)

The earlier so-called references to Sunday as the Lord’s day in the writings of the Christian Church Fathers result from paraphrasing the Greek. They are not unequivocal references to Sunday. The Didache or Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, written somewhere between the late first century and the late second century, contains the statement, “On the Lord’s of the Lord [or, “According to the Lord’s of the Lord”] assemble, break bread, and hold Eucharist.”
The word “day” does not occur in the Greek text, even though most translators have inserted it. The text could mean, “According to the Lord’s commandment. . . .”(Didache, 14:1. The Greek reads kata kuriaken de kuriou sunachthentes. . . .C Karl Bihlmeyer (ed.), Die Apostolischen Vater (Tubingen: J. C. B. Mohr, 1956), p. 8. See Strand (ed.) The Sabbath in Scripture and History, p. 348.)

Rev.11:7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them.

These two prophets declares that Sabbath law must be observed.
Is. 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.
But because of their resurrection their testimony proves true that they are really the two prophets mentioned in the scriptures; confirming that the Ten Commandments is an everlasting covenant of God even in these last days of judgement. Then follows the fulfillment of prophecy regarding the ark of the covenant.
Rev. 11:19 Then God’s temple in heaven opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant.
* * * * *
Rev. 12:17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring - those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

In history the dragon refers to Rome persecuting the faithful Christians. However , because of the growing hatred of the Romans to the Jews many Christians separated in the gathering of the Jews in fear of death. The Jewish custom of gathering every Sabbath becomes a suspicion of rebellion even on the part of Christians. The faithful followers in due time become more mixed up with many Christians still inclined to pagan festivals. In obedience to the teachings of Paul of submission to authorities gradually they were induced to follow the customs of the pagans regarding Sunday as a sacred day.
Council of Laodicea. “From the apostles’ time until the council of Laodicea, which was about the year 364, the holy observation of the Jews’ Sabbath continued, as may be proved out of many authors; yea, notwithstanding the decree of the council against it.” Sunday a Sabbath, John Ley, p. 163. London: 1640.

“Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday, but shall work on that day; but the Lord’s Day they shall especially honor, and , as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If, however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ.” Catholic Church Council in Laodicea, 364AD, Canon 29.

It is now the church itself persecuting the faithful Christians following the footsteps of the dragon.

“We are informed that some people in different districts of the kingdom, have adopted and observed Saturday keeping. It is severely forbidden - in holy church canon - one and all to observe days excepting those which the holy Pope, archbishop, or the bishops command. Saturdaykeeping must under no circumstances be permitted hereafter further than the church canon commands. Therefore, we counsel all the friends of God throughout all Norway who want to be obedient towards the holy church to let this evil of Saturdaykeeping alone; and the rest we forbid under penalty of severe church punishment to keep Saturday holy.” Catholic Provincial Council at Bergen. 1435 Dip. Norveg., 7, 397.

Russia: “The accused [Sabbathkeepers] were summoned; they openly acknowledged the new faith, and defended the same. The most eminent of them, the secretary of state, Kuritzyn, Ivan Maximow, Kassian, archimandrite of the Jury Monastery of Novgorod, were condemned to death, and burned publicly in cages, at Moscow, Dec. 27, 1503.”(Council, Moscow, 1503). H. Sternberf, Geschichte der Juden (Leipzig, 1873), pp. 1117-122.

“On the 18th of January, 1563, the Council of Trent ruled that Tradition is greater than Scripture, after a powerful speech by the Archbishop of Reggio, in which he said that the fact that the Church had changed the Fourth Commandment clearly proved that Tradition was greater than Scripture.” H.J. Holtzman, Kanon und Tradition, 1859 edition, p. 263
.
Sweden: “This zeal for Saturdaykeeping continued for a long time; even little things which might strengthen the practice of keeping Saturday were punished.” Bishop Anjou, Svenska Kirkans Historia efter Motet i Upsala
.
India: “The famous Jesuit, Francis Xavier, called for the Inquisition, which was set up in Goa, India, in 1560, to check the ‘Jewish wickedness’ (Sabbathkeeping).” Adeney, The Greek and Eastern Churches, p. 527-528.

Romania (1760): “Joseph II’s edict of tolerance did not apply to the Sabbatarians, some of whom again lost all of their possessions.” Jahrgang 2, 254.

Bohemia and Moravia: “The condition of the Sabbatarians [from 1635 to 1867] was dreadful. Their books and writings had to be delivered to the Karlsburg Consistory to become the spoil of flames.” Adolf Dux, Aus Ungarn, pp. 2889-291. Leipzig, 18880.

Rev. 13:15 He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17 so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. 8 This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man’s number. His number is 666.

Consider the standing of Pope John Paul II in relation to the 666 in the conference held on June 26, 1985 in Kenya, Africa. The following notes were the published articles as proposed by Pope John Paul II to the worldwide Ecumenical Council.

Notice the number represented in the two long parallel lines of every Barcode. This two long parallel lines has a numerical value of six (6). And in every Barcode there are three of this two parallel lines, the end left and right and one in the middle. However you can not see this three number six, what you have is the other numbers below of other lines. This will be placed in the right hand and in the forehead by the beast. This is actually a sealing of 666 to those who will regard the Sunday worship observance .

But even there is no visible mark in the forehead and in the right hand; the obligation to regard Sunday observance is enough testimony as captive of the Beast. In Biblical truth it is obedience to the command is the sign of loyalty thus signifying as a mark in the forehead.

Rev. 14:9 A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, 10 he too, will drink of the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day and night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name.

Those who receive this mark of 666 will surely suffer the wrath of God’s anger.
Rev. 14:12 This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus. 13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.”
But those who obey the Sabbath rest will surely be blessed.

Rev. 16:2 The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly and painful sores broke out on the people who had mark of the beast and worshipped his image.
These punishment they will suffer if they not regard the true Sabbath holy.

Rev. 16:13 Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.

These are the ecumenical movement going on to all the churches joining hand with the Pope, the one world government of the United Nations and the false pastors to deceive the people to implement the sixteen articles that those who observe the true Sabbath be punish with death under the law of the state. (Implementing the Democracy ruled by Satan).

Rev. 17:13 They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and Kings of kings - and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”

CHURCHES AGREE THAT POPE HAS OVERALL AUTHORITY
Electronic Telegraph-UK News
May 13, 1999 Oliver Poople

The Pope was recognised as the overall authority in the Christian world by an Anglican and Roman Catholic commission yesterday which described him as a “gift to be received by all churches”. If a new united Christian Church was created it would be the ‘Bishop of Rome who would exercise a universal primacy. The 43-page document, The Gift of Authority, has been produced by the 18-member Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission, after five years of debate. The commission concluded that the Bishop of Rome had a “specific ministry concerning the discernment of truth’ and accepted that only the Pope had a moral authority to unit the various Christian denominations. Mark Birchall, a member of the Church of England Evangelical council, said: ”It speaks as if the Bishop of Rome has always been on the side of the angels while it is well known that for several centuries past the Bishop of Rome was certainly not” The Rt Rev Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, Bishop of Arundel and Brighton and other co-chairman, added: “The primacy of the Pope is a gift to be shared.”

Pope Benedict & WCC's Head First Meeting Signals New Phase in Christian Unity
Posted: Friday, June 17 , 2005, 11:40 (UK)

The first ever meeting between Pope Benedict XVI and the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Rev Dr Samuel Kobia since both took up their current positions was held on Thursday 16th June, and was witnessed by a small private audience.

The two organisations have both shown their pursuit in unifying all Christians, which is seen as an encouraging step in the ecumenical movement worldwide.

Pope Benedict XVI was quoted by the Associated Press: "The commitment of the Catholic Church to the search for Christian unity is irreversible."

In his remarks, Pope Benedict XVI also assured Kobia that the church he heads is "eager to continue cooperation" with the WCC, and expressed hope that the visit had been "fruitful, strengthening the bonds of understanding and friendship between us".

The WCC is the world’s largest ecumenical fellowship of more than 300 churches from nearly all Christian traditions, including Protestant and the Orthodox. The Roman Catholic Church is not a member of the WCC but works cooperatively with it in several areas, and is a full member of two of the Council's commissions: Faith and Order, and World Mission and Evangelism.
Since Pope Benedict XVI was elected as the new pope after the late John Paul II, he has repeatedly vowed that uniting all Christians and healing the 1,000-year-old rift with the Orthodox Church a "primary" task of his papacy.

(These are some developments of the ecumenical movement today.)

Rev. 19:19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. 20 But the beast was captured, with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image.

In prophecy it is those who follow the Ten Commandments that will be victorious in these last battle.

Mal. 4:1 “Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the LORD Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them. 2 But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. 3 Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes “Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.

But those who reject the law will be rejected and ignored by the Lord.
Hos. 4:6 ...my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.

A CALL FOR UNITY AGAINST THE DECEPTION OF SATAN

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Article 12 The Churches shall unite on one day, Sunday, according to the number.
Article 7 If anyone not recognize or denies the Articles of this Union, they shall be severely punished by death.

In unity we must stand against these deceptive ways of Satan. We must not let these two articles be imposed in our land. If you are few in numbers make alliances with the Sabbath keepers. Be alert and always on watch to stand on guard against every attempt of our rulers or law makers to forbid the honoring of Sabbath law.

However should they remain strong and was able to make it into laws, let us remain faithful to The Word of God. Our Lord knows who are loyal to him. Those who are not ashamed to be on the side of truth. And those who are in secret thwarting every plans of the enemy for the safety of his servants.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
Exodus 20:1-17

And God spoke all these words: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
1. “You shall have no other gods before me.
2. “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations, of those who love me and keep my commandments.
3. “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
4. “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
5. “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
6. “You shall not murder.
7. “You shall not commit adultery.
8. “You shall not steal.
9. “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
10. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Hebrews 8:10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will by my people.
